Project Duration:
February 2017 – February 2019
The QLOCKTWO is an iconic time piece. But it also wears a hefty price tag, which Frederic Letsch and I could not afford. There are many QLOCKTWO replicas around, but most of them are not able to recreate the lean design of the original. Over the course of two years, we’ve designed and built perfect copies of the QLOCKTWO CLASSIC. Building not only one, but five copies challenged us to adopt the techniques of an engineer. Every step needed to be planned out and tested.
Open Sourced & Legal Issues
Originally we open sourced our project on GitHub, but unfortunately in spring of 2023 we were given a written warning by the lawyers of the QLOCKTWO License GmbH, and we had to take the project and all photos of our project down. The project was very popular on GitHub, with over 90 stars and several people trying to recreate the project. Even with our documentation, well-founded knowledge in electronics was necessary to build the project, so it was in no means a step-by-step guide. Still, we were unfortunately forced to take all documentation down.
